Rallying for zero carbon roads
The London Cycling Campaign (LCC) is an independent membership charity lobbying for better conditions for cycling in London. Its vision is to make London "a world-class cycling city". It is one of the largest cycling organisations in the world, with over 11,000 members.
The LCC launched its Climate Safe Streets campaign for radical, transformative action to cure London of its car addiction and reorganise our road system so that walking, cycling, and zero-carbon micro-mobility and public transport/on-demand services, replace avoidable car use by 2030.
Creative agency Templo commissioned me to write for this radical campaign. As children will be directly affected by the rising Earth's temperature, they wanted to create a campaign that had children at its heart. Templo tasked me with bringing the voice of London's children to life. This included the campaign headline, hashtag and several paragraphs of copy.
They ask questions like ‘are we nearly there yet?’ to which the answer is ‘sadly yes…’ This dialogue rallies people to press for political change and encourage MPs to commit to delivering on LCC’s demands. I thoroughly enjoyed tapping into my inner child to create such spirited copy for an important cause.
